The University's tuition and fee schedules are determined by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and the University's Governing Board. The publication of each year's fee structure occurs at the start of the State's fiscal year (the July preceding the Fall Term). Prior to publication, you may estimate an additional 2-5% for the upcoming Fall/Spring Terms.
Students are permitted to register for subsequent terms, obtain grades/transcripts, and receive the hard-copy degree when all accounts balances are paid. A student is officially enrolled when the Term's tuition and fees are paid in full or covered by approved third party funding.

(for eligible Out-of-State Students Only)
The Office of Enrollment Management is responsible for determining the eligibility and for application of the Scholar Rate, Scholar Rate Plus and the 250 Mile Radius reduced Out-of-State tuition rates. The email contact for this Office is EnrollmentMgt@tnstate.edu. These rates only apply once an eligible student reaches 15 or more credit hours.
Overview: Out-of-state students pay an additional fee referred to as tuition that is not assessed to Tennessee in-state students. Out-of-state students who graduated from a high school whose zip code is within a 250 mile radius of Nashville are eligible for a discount on out-of-state tuition.
General Eligibility
Overview: Out-of-state students pay an additional fee referred to as tuition that is not assessed to Tennessee in-state students. High-achieving out-of-state students may qualify for a discounted SCHOLAR RATE or SCHOLAR RATE PLUS.
General Eligibility
Scholar Rate Eligibility
The Scholar Rate is available to all categories of out-of-state students (i.e., first-time freshmen, returning students, transfer students, etc.). There is no maximum number of semesters for which a student may receive the rate if they meet the general eligibility requirements above as well as the following additional requirements:
Scholar Rate Plus Eligibility
The Scholar Rate Plus is available to out-of-state first-time freshmen only. Students may receive this rate for a maximum of eight (8) semesters if they meet the general eligibility requirements above as well as the following additional requirements:
Appeals
An eligibility appeal may be submitted that documents one of the following:
A student must submit and appeal form and appropriate documentation, if applicable, to the Enrollment Services Office within ten (10) calendar days of the first day of classes for an appeal to be considered. The first day of classes is specified on the University Calendar.
No change in fees will be made after the appeal deadlines. For example, if s student drops from 15 credit hours to 3 credit hours during the Fall term, the discounted rate will not be adjusted to the regular out-of-state rate, which would be lower in this instance.
Application and Notification
No application is required to receive these discounted rates. A rate will be automatically assessed to those who qualify. Students will be notified by email if they are eligible for and/or have received a discounted rate for that semester. Students with questions about the rates may contact the Office of Enrollment Services.

Individuals have access to individual courses and degree completion through multiple Tennessee four-year public universities. In total, there are over 450 online courses! These courses are equivalent to those offered at the physical campus locations. All participating institutions are regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). For additional information regarding TNeCampus visit the TNeCampus webpage.
No differentiation is made between online and on-ground delivery of courses as they appear on transcripts or in the awarding of diplomas. However, TN eCampus courses are offered at a different tuition rate than the traditional on-campus courses. Additionally, TN eCampus courses do not count toward the 15 minimum credit hours for the reduced 250 Mile Radius reduced tuition discount.
The Book Bundle Program is managed outside of the Bursar's Office. For questions related to the Book Bundle email BookBundle@tnstate.edu.
